Reclaim Or Recycling Flooring!

By Noel Hines

Do not throw away your wood or laminate flooring. I repeat do not throw away any type of flooring. While the surface has not been excessively worn or corroded, it maybe recycled and you have it looking as good as new in no time.

To verify that you can reuse the flooring you will need to check on the following.

- Ensure the flooring is in a fairly good state and not damaged.
- If it is needed for a specific purpose then make sure you have more than the amount you need because you will have some waste.
- If you have no specific need measure the area that is covering and note it down.
- Pick up each piece in a defined order and if possible number them as you go. On the under side with a permanent marker. If you are placing them in an area of similar size and shape this will make it a lot easier.
- Each piece should be cleaned removing any glue and or dirt, so it will be easier to fit at a later date.
- If they are to be stored away then pack them in an ordered manner.
- When you are ready to use them you will need to buy the tools necessary to do the job properly.

Tools required:

- A tough hammering block.
- At least 20 spacers.
- A PVA spatula and a pull bar.
- Optional a push block.

I am not going into the detail on how to lay flooring but there are number of website you can use for pointers.

The process will save you money and help save the planet. It will however cost you quite a bit of time depending on the condition.
